A Thinker

"The Paradox of Our Time"
"The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints; we spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less. We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too seldom, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our posesions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We've conquered outer space, but not inner space; we've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul; we've split the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less; we plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes, but lower morals; we have more food, but less appeasement; we build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but we have less communication; we've become long on quantity, but short on quality. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men, and short character; steep profits, and shallow relationships. These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition. These are days of two incomes, but more divorce; of fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer to quiet to kill. It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stockroom

It's your time.
It's your choice."

Acting 101 from E.E. Cummings

"Almost anybody can learn to think or believe or know, but not a single human can be taught to be.
Why?
Because whenever you think or you believe or you know, you are a lot of other people: but the moment you are being, you're nobody but yourself. To be nobody but yourself-in a world which is doingits best night and day to make you everybody else-means to fight the hardest battle which any hman being can fight, and never stop fighting.
Does this sound dismal?
it isn't. It's the most wonderful life on earth" - E.E. Cummings

September Skies

The summer begins to fall
Fantasies are cut short all to fast
We are reminded of who we were
And forced to make the present past
Infatuation replaced
With falling leaves and open books
Last moments come to a close
No more stolen glances or hope filled looks
The embrace no longer felt
Realizing the cruelties of fate
Finally finding all the right words
Of course they came 2 minutes too late
The swings no longer swinging
Standing in the rain
Sympathizing with every drop
Knowing each ones pane (play on words...i.e. window pane/ pain)
What if'ing yourself to sleep
Suddenly feeling Septembers night
The darkness and the cold
That just used to feel so right
The skies filled with memories
The beauty of its colour lost
The skies filled with promise
But knowing just what they cost
Mind running overtime
Heart beating even faster
Dreams full of "if only"
Heads all confused with disaster
Never letting go
Never losing hope
Knowing nothing for certain
Just figuring out how to cope

Forgetting just the skies of September
Knowing I want you in my sky forever
Forget just the skies of September
I want you in my sky forever

*if any of this pertains to you, you can substitute any month you wish to in place of September...as long as it rhymes with forever!

goodnight, goodnight and goodnight!

Make it a double...

Laughter is the best medicine to anything!
Today was a good day for a few reasons...I made alot of people laugh that needed laughs and probably the biggest reason it was a good day was because one of those people was myself! I know I am a dork for laughing at my own jokes, my own stupidty and my own misfortunes that happen to be hillarious (like falling asleep during cpr class while pretending to be a casulty of a car accident or trying to run up the stairs and missing the first step and falling right on my face and brusing my knees and elbows). Most of all today I was, as far I'd like to believe, on fire with the wit and not only buring freinds and co-workers but myself. and that just plain ole feels good!! Pills make you better but laughter can help you forget something was even wrong in the first place!!

so have a laugh to yourself and I'm going to make mine a double!

A dramatic story...

So in my drama class my prof tells us that "when you can convince an audience that the action is actually happening and get them to confuse the line between imaginative and reality you have succeeded." He then pulled me aside at the end of class and proceeded to tell me that I have a great talent for making people laugh in both my physical acting and the scripting I have written for myself...but, there's always a but in acting, though he has been drawn in I sometimes go to far for a laugh (i.e. the banana in the pocket scene) which though it gets a laugh it reminds an audience that it is just acting. So he challenged me to do something that makes the audience/ my peers forget that it is a stage, to go all out...cue my brain working overtime...So this mornings class I had written myself a new mini script/ scene, with new actions, new cheap laughs, a somewhat skeptic yet willing partner and a twist ending, entitled "The Line". The challegne had been set and I was more than up for it, and my goal was not to confuse the line just to the audience but to him as well. So the beginning goes off without a hitch..which actually started before class by sleeping on the couches out front of class and being quite disoriented...then asking if I can go to the washroom to get a drink of water 3 times...cue him asking if I was alright because I looked kind of sick...45 minutes into class my scene "begins" for most everybody...the laughter begins at our stupid antics of being 2 guys in a dance club (nothing spectacular but some clever dialogue and wonderful dancing aided the laughter)...cue the words running together, the faint and the falling super hard on the floor (which actually hurt)...at first a few chuckles thinking probably it was some sort of slap stick comedy...cue my partners carefully scripted "Adam, Adam are you ok. Oh shit..." He never got time to finish as the line had officially been broken and a prof that set out a challenge was knelt beside me with a crowd of a few people to turn over a huge smiling Adam uttering the words "and lights..." (you have to be in the class to kind of understand that but I think you can figure it out)...cue the somewhat shock on faces and the hysterical laughing of myself and my partner...cue the being taken aside again at the end of class and congratulated on causing the line to be confused...but (again with the but) to now put that same full out believability into all my work and to maybe give a guy some warning next time so that he doesn't (in exact words) "shit a brick"...for now I will relish in this victory and go back to cheap laughs and groans because my best jokes get the groans!!...Professor Jim Guedo and 25 drama students = 0, Adam Peters and Qwan = 1!!...honestly the highlight of my school year thus far!!

Rattled...

A few things I acctually know
I regret nothing, I will forget nothing...
I am a little rattled...
I will get over myself...
That chapter may be closed but that doesn't mean we have to put the book away and stop writting...
I really suck at writting blogs...
Life's a bitch then you die, might as well have some fun while were here...
Inspiration sometimes comes when you don't want it...

Goldfish

The life and times of a goldfish

-never being able to tell what people are saying because you can't hear anything underwater
-always having to look a huge gigantic stupid looking faces
-actually know what its like to be living in a fish bowl
-3 second memory provides a life without hurt, hate and a pretty painless death consisting of a flush and a tear
-3 second memory provides a life without love, friendship and the memories made leading up to the flush and the tear

(I just watched Big Fish and decided this would be a good blog...how wrong I was!)

Clear Bottled Brown

The bottom of every bottle is the same at one point...empty
bottles are also see through...thus when you have something bottled up in it no matter how much you try to hide it others can see through it realatively easy

If any of you know me I am used to curveballs.
And if you know me really well you know that I as much as I try I cannot see them 3 quarters of the time!

swing and a miss...clear bottled brown!

(this makes no sense but I am keepin it because it is a good symbol of what my head feels like)

Courage

The whole is made up of the things you do and the things you don't do. Sometimes its having the courage to not do something and sometimes its just in the words you say or the words you don't that your true self, feelings and ultimately how much courage you have shines through.

Every Rotten Little Thing...

A beautiful girl can make you dizzy, like you've been drinkin jack and coke all day. She can make you feel high, full of the single greatest commodity known to man, promise. Promise of a better day, promise of a greater hope, promise of a new tomorrow. This particular aura can be found in the gate of a beautiful girl. In her smile and in her soul...and the way she makes every rotten little thing about life seem like its going to be ok!

Grow Up!

I am probably the wrong guy to talk about growing up but most of these lessons I have learned and I figure part of growing up is passing on your opinionated wisdom right!

1)There are times to be childish, there are times to pout and there are times to act immature. In the same respect there are times to act like an adult, there are times to suck it up and there are times to grow up and be mature.

2)You can listen to what others say and believe them or you can straight up ask the person the story concerns and get a straight up answer, rumors only become truth when the truth is never sought after.

3)If you forgive someone for something let it go. You can no longer draw on this in future discussions! Yes it may still hurt but once you give forgiveness you must complete give it otherwise it is going to build up and blow up.

4)Listen to your gut first and foremost, it usually tells the truth. It's when you start listening to others and going against that feeling in your gut that you get into the worst kind of trouble.

5)opinions are not always correct, that's why they are opinions not facts. State yours without hesitation but be prepared to hear a different one. Keep an open mind.

I am not saying that we must become a Grown up, but we must gradually learn that we are not invincible and we are not always right. Being young is about doing dumb stuff, just use your head while you do it!

(A little side note on 4...Listen to your gut not your ex-girlfriend. Who do you truly think is telling the truth!)

Just Another...

We often shrug things off because it's "just another" something or other. I truly believe that nothing in this world is "just another"because everything is different everytime. It's never "just another" rainy day, the same drops are not falling, the same puddles are not being splashed around in, the same feelings are not felt. It's never "just another" late night, the same people are not always around, the sky paints different pictures, the words are always in new spots. It's never "just another" kiss, never "just another" conversation, never "just another" November, never "just another" Tuesday morning...Never "just another" just another! So next time some asks you something such as "how was your day" don't respond with it was just another day because there has been something different happen that day whether you realize it or not!

Have Just Another great day y'all!!

"she's simple yet confusing" from Emily by From First to Last ...like these guys, kinda hardcore though!
