Merry Freakin Christmas Y'all!

SO the title says it all. Time for reflection and tidings and joy and all that jazz......so that should have been enough time for you, if not continue on your own time!! Anyway I promise to get back on here and write relatively regularly but for now I wish to share with you the wonderful email I have just recieved:

Phil 226.3 students, We regret to inform you that your instructor in the course Phil 226.3 was
the victim of a break and enter and that his briefcase containing the final exam which he had just
given in your class was stolen. So far the police have not recovered the exam. We recognize that
this criminal event which has befallen your instructor may produce considerable anxiety among
students. In the interest of fairness and expediency of providing students in this class with a fair
grade, we have decided to proceed as follows: 1) We need to confirm your current performance
so far in the course. Please indicate the grade that you obtained on the following assignments and
indicate any for which you cannot track down your own record.
Quiz #1 Quiz #2 Analysis/Reflection paper #1 Analysis/Reflection paper #2
2) Select one of the two options below for the final exam and communicate your choice to
Professor Poellet by email at mnp506@mail.usask.ca. Option a) Rewrite the final exam in early
January at a date to be determined Option b) Agree to a final grade based on work completed
to date, with the weight of the final exam distributed proportionally among the other
assignments 3) Send Professor Poellet an immediate response to indicate that you have received
this email and that you will provide your choice in option A or B and your grades in step 1
within the next 48 hours.I believe that these options are fair and equitable and are a balance
of student fairness and institutional and academic standards. Please direct any concerns on
the resolution of this issue to me.
Sincerely,Tammy MarcheAssistant Dean,St. Thomas More CollegeUniversity of Saskatchewan

Colours (colors for those americans)

True colours can come through in the strangest places. I have a class with this guy named Brent and Brent simply put is a genious. You need a definition for anything he knows it, you wanna know about 18th century silverware and he can probably recite you their acctual names and the blacksmith who made them. Well over the course of this term I have had to work on 2 projects with Brent, which was awesome seeing as the project was basically done before we began cause he knew all the facts up inhis noggin already. But just last week while we were putting the finishing touches on one of our presentations Brent paused for a second and then asked me some crazy serious questions...1) what makes me so happy all the time 2) how do I say what I want say always when so many times it comes out wrong 3) how do I grow such a thick beard...The beard question was easy, its a regiment of raw eggs, rattelsnake tail and a gallon of herbal essence in the morning...but I didn't really have definate answers other than "confidence" and he was half shocked because I think he expected an answer like "I get high alot so thats why I am so mellow and happy and because I am high in my mind what I say makes total sense man" being that i am a hippie and what not! But what I admired most about these questions is that I looked up to Brent while he was looking up to me. i prasied him for his intelectand he praised me for my beard and lack of tact...its crazy how you can sometimes find your own true colours simply by listening to what others think about yours. Anyway I am still jealous of his infinte knowledge but I am pretty sure I could beat him in a staring contest...where the winner gets the others soul!! mmmmuuuuuwwahhhhhhhhhh cough cough right

so anyway Here's a poem I wrote to my girlfriend that took all of 2 seconds and isn't intended to be really any good at all!!

Good Ole Colourful You
Roses are red
and their stems are green
you are the most beautiful girl
that I have ever seen
Violets are blue
and daisies are yellow
to have you as my girl
makes me one lucky fellow
Tiger lilies are orange and black
and Oleanders are white
no matter the colour
you are simply just right!

ok so that was our study note...use it guys if girls like corny things cause its corn factor rated a 9.5 outta ten!! Boo I am such a cheeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeee ball

Total line of the month: I'd Write More...but I'm full of secrets

The Difference Between Need and Want

I am taking an environmental philosphy class, which as a side note I am not enjoying (mainly cause the prof is an assclown). The one thing I have taken thus far from this class (other than some much needed sleep) is that I have been enlightened to look at the difference between need and want. Think about your life and try to think about the things you need...I mean truly need! These things consist of food, water, air and maybe you can include some shelter. Now think of the thigns that you want. You probably classify want as thigns such as Hillary Duff tickets, that new pair of shoes that are just to dye for, a starbucks double mocha latte expresso frothy coffee, etc. But do we ever stop to think that things we see as essential and we need are acctually just wants...alarm clocks, razors, beds and all things of this sort that we kind of just see as essential to our everyday lives. These are seen as needs but in thier truest form are wants, pure and simple. I have found that over time we have become increasingly more aware of the wants we obtain and they have worked thier way into the train of thought that they are infact needs. The longer this process goes on the more we "need" and the more we will want. Take for example the size of your room, does it need to be that big. should it not just be big enough for you to take shelter from the elements of weather and no more? I was asked what should be done about this and I responded that if something truly were needed to be done we must start putting limits on things, giving out only whats required and not whats wanted. I was then asked if I would feel it is fair to live in a society like that and I responded with an emphatic NO. this is because the life as I know it is heavily based on freedom and to take away those freedoms once you have grown accustom to them would be unthinkable! If you want to see the effect your actions go to http://www.earthday.net/footprint/index.asp and see your ecological footprint and the effect you have on the world and it will open your eyes! Anyway I am not saying I am a saint and that I am going to change the world but I am saying that we as a society should become aware of what we are doing to this world before we are forced to realize it!

RANT OVER!!

p.s. I was in the library and someone asked me what I was studying for and I said (probably a little loud cause of the need to hear myself over my music) "I am taking notes on the male gaze"...now say that sentence fast and imagine you don't know the context of the conversation...I had like 10 people stare at me in disbelief for my total lack of disrespect for the homosexual male...though I was clearly talking about the male gaze and how it refers to the objectication of women, with particular linkage to Feminist theatre. Damned Hippies!!
